Does a 6.2L need a catch can?

I wouldnt say need, but they are nice to have. They do help in the long run.
If you read from previous threads on this, it's not hard to install one and the cost is pretty small aswell. Most cans are 20-40 bucks and then you just need hoses and perhaps fab a small mount.

If you want to keep the oil out of the intake and off the valves and pistons, then yes you need a catch can. Mike Norris on mine, does a decent job but oil still gets by. I was thinking about adding a cooler in line to help the oil fall to the bottom a little better.

I would definitely suggest it, you would be surprised what it will catch. We've got a new catch can out that has been working great for us (easy to empty as well, just unscrews in the middle). Here it is on an '09 5.3L from a couple weeks ago,
