I know what you mean on the crap sound. It has pushed me to do a full system in my single cab. I am going to run two JL 10's (W1's) and JL components with a nice 5 channel. Looking at pioneer doulbe dens for a head unit. I don't think it will knock pics of the wall but it will jam

The stock sound system in my 2010 LS is 10 times better than the stock Bose sound system in my 2006. It bumps good enough for me.

There really is no comparison stock vs stock between GMT800 and the 900s...

I will give you the same advice given to me. Go to crutchfield dot com, type in your ride and see what fits. Then buy them on ebay.

Well stated. I did that just this past week.. Seems that perhaps there are several people on here who will be sore with the quality of the speakers. Mine is fading in and out on the passenger side. Sounds like crap.. I HATE aftermarket head units so i plan to keep mine stock but i need to get some decent components for the doors and rear panel.. Maybe a JL 8 mounted inside the console if i ever find an LT2 console..

Aftermarkets headunits merge well with GM factory controls but there are some adapters you will need like the one that Mangled03gmc spec'd out for you. Mangled also pointed out some good manufactures for speakers. If your looking for headunits check into Alpine, Kenwood excelon, Pionneer Premier.
