Found a used '07 1500 ext-cab 4x4 that according to the VIN has a 6.0, but from the pics it has drum brakes on the rear and doesn't have VortecMax badges on the doors??
I thought you had to get the NHT Max trailering package in order to get a 6.0 and that included the 9.5" rear w/discs.
All it has is the regular Z82 trailering package and some other RPO code that I haven't seen before...AXN : IDENTIFICATION HYBRID AXLE HYBRID AXLE(AXN). Not sure what that is, but only 3,520 trucks got it that year...the same number of trucks that got a 6.0.
Here's RPO breakdown & pics of the truck:

Was it possible to get a 6.0 like that, or did somebody just swap out the rear with a 8.5"?

in 07 I think 6.0 was vmax only, I had one and that was the only way to get 6.0 then.
I have the 07 factory nnbs brochure in my hand and don't see way other way to get it.
But anything is possible.
That changed in 08.
Ask them for a picture of the engine tag on the cover over the rad/grill

The tail pipe on the 6.0 trucks comes strait out the back. The truck in the pics doesnt come strait out the back it angles out the side like a 4.8/5.3 truck. I would say maybe its the wrong truck in the pics but there are not to many excab shorty bed trucks out there. I would doubt the same lot has 2 used ones.

I have a 07' ECSB 2WD VMAX with drum brakes. I bought new, its the LTZ package. If I remember right the rear disc only came on the 4WD models with the trailer package. I have the trailer package with the 14 bolt rear and additional coolers.

where is your tail pipe, out the side or under the bumper
my 07 nnbs vmax 2WD had rear disc and 14 bolt.
GM may have been cleaning out the parts bins in early 07.

6.2 not available in trucks until MY09
The Generation III small block V8 engines offered in the GMT 800 trucks will be replaced in the GMT 900 series by the Generation IV small block V8 engine family, featuring upgrades such as increased power and Active Fuel Management on the 5.3 L and 6.0 L V8s. A new high performance 6.2 liter V8 (with 403 hp (301 kW) and 417 lb·ft (565 N·m) of torque) was introduced with the 2007 Cadillac Escalade and 2007 GMC Denali line, and is now available on the Silverado LTZ trim line. This addition now makes the Silverado/Sierra trucks the most powerful half-ton trucks available.
