Default Cleaning TPS on DBW?

Alright guys I'm driving home and CEL comes on so I stopped at parts store. I didn't get the code but they said TPS needed cleaned/replaced. Truck is '07 Tahoe with dbw throttle body. Is it gonna hurt anything to take servo unit off and clean it? If I need to replace do I need to replace whole unit? Truck idles and runs normal. I'm confused.

You need to know what the code is, I suspect they dont know what they are talking about and think that it actually has a idle air control circuit. It may just be a dirty throttle body bore.

There is a recall on the NNBS TPS sensors bieng faulty . But I believe the recall only covers 08 up vehicles , which sucks . But if yours isn't covered go buy a new one , they aren't very expensive. What happens is condensation gets inside the TPS and damages the two gears inside , they mesh together , but the condensation makes one or both slip and get out of index with each other giving bad info to the PCM. I had mine replaced on my Denali.

I always just remove it and use a old toothbrush.

Well went out and pulled the truck to garage and CEL is gone. Gonna clean throttle body either way.
