Default Can you add dealer-installed options after build?

I hope this is posted in the right place. My buddy just bought a 2008 Tahoe that's practically loaded (leather, 4WD, woodgrain, center buckets, etc.). However, the truck didn't come with heated seats. I called a local dealership that I have bought tons of parts from over the years. The guy told me there was no kit available and the truck comes the way it was built. After a little back and forth, I realized he wasn't going to help me so I thanked him and hung up. I have to believe there's not much to doing this since it is listed as a dealer installed option. Maybe the harness is already there so all we need to do is add the switches and the heating elements. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks in advance!

Tell your parts guy to check his accessories guide, as they offer heated seats in a kit (depending on option codes). Let me know if he can't help you.

Yes it can be added. No you cant do it at home, it's not easy. Has to be programmed and only the dealer can do it. The seats have to come out to run the harness, seat covers have to come off to install heaters, switches have to be installed in door panels etc...Unless experienced I would not attempt, also likely not covered by warranty unless dealer installed. The guy you spoke to likely just didnt want to hassle with doing the work.

I went on GMPD and found the kit number from the accessories page. I called them and gave them that number. They were able to pull it up no problem. It was a different guy so no hassle. Looks like Nick posted a link to that same page.

LowBlack99 - What kind of programming? I have HPTuners if it's somehow accessible through there. Push comes to shove, I can access a Tech II.

Anybody know if reprogramming is included if a dealership performs the work?
