Default Bought a VMAX

...the slightly lame kind, just an 08 with a 6 liter and a 4 speed. I don't really know too much about it, it seems most VMAXs on here are 6.2s. Can't really try out the extra 120 odd horsepower over my old truck with the ocean of ice I'm living in, but it towed a loaded trailer better than my old truck towed the empty trailer!

Who can tell me how much abuse the stock 4L70E will take? Since it's a 60 derivative, can I swap my Trailblazer convertor into it? Will I be on the hunt for a 6L80E like Ken did if I put any extra power through it?

Is there anything to be gained by deleting the cats? I can tune to that extent at least... I've got some big piece of crap right by the tailpipe, behind the muffler, is that the 3rd cat I hear some of you guys talking about?

I think I must have the towing package, cause I have the extendable mirrors and factory trailer brake controller. Will swapping the mirrors for the static, kinda aerodynamic ones do ANYTHING for fuel economy or is that just a waste of money? They're kinda ugly and useless actually... I've found that the mileage drops waaayyy off once you go faster than 60 mph.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. The drop and stereo parts are coming, now it's time to make this live up to the sticker that Dewey mailed me for my back window!

That is a resonator in the tailpipe. You probably have the towing package that I believe came with 4.10 gears. The 4L70E doesn't hold up any better than the rest of them. Depends alot on how much you try and abuse it.

You'll love it. 4L60's 70's are crazy creatures some die early even when cared for and others just take a lickin and keep on tickin. A shift kit and servos will go a long way toward helping it live a long life.
