Default Another GM engine that's winning, lol.

I love it!

So yesterday I hook up with another guy at the outfit I worked for that ended up with my old 09 2500HD afer I turned it in. It sounds like an old 2 cylinder John Deere tractor at idle now. He just had the oil changed in it ( yes it's full) and it started this shortly after getting some fuel. He assumed it was bad gas, but then questioned a bit on hot idle oil pressure and it sounded normal to me at the time.

Today I got in the truck and it's getting worse not wanting to start and hardly idling. I looked at the oil pressure and it has maybe 10 PSI hot idle whereas it used to be around 30 psi.....

So is it a stretch to say that the crappy lifters used on the L92's and L9H's are probably the very same part on this trucks LY6? It has no CEL and I would say has at least one dead cylinder minimum. A lifter would make sense with the missing and the oil pressure problem. I am guessing it probably done for. The truck has about 65000 miles on it currently.

Not a surprise, but I will update once I hear from the guy whatever is wrong with it. No I am not testing anything on it, it's under warranty for one and it's not my truck for the other. GM can deal with it.

FOR CLARITY SAKE THIS POST HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING RELATED TO AFM AND ITS MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS!

Sorry for the shouting if you percieve it that way but I am not talking about anything AFM here.
The non AFM 6.2's which I imagine have the same part number lifter as the LY6 and L96's are not exempt from issues either. I have read enough posts about them ticking and making noise that it doesn't surprise me if that is what failed.

Good thing GMT900s have better warranties than GMT800s.

Yeah it must be great having that safety blanket of reassurance owning something that you know will need it.

So which category can the dealerships classify this trucks problem under now? Before it was usually one of two either being "normal" or "cannot reproduce condition". I am willing to be "normal" will take the cake this time, Lol.

Truthfully and thankfully I really don't care but I am intrigued to see what they come up with. I think he is dumping the truck off today honestly meaning sometime next week should be the diagnosis.

You seem awefully upset about this truck you don't own. Are they holding you reponsible because you tuned it?

Upset, no no no. You are inferring emotion from words which obviously is incorrect. I am extremely sarcastic in real life and it reflects in my typing. I really disliked the truck when I had it, yes, but now I don't. I feel for the poor schmuck that got stuck with it as it should have gone to auction. There is no legal grounds for anything and I could care less if they did blame me, I don't work for them anyway. The truck was stock and actually very well maintained like anything else that I had. I don't mod things I don't own and it was a company provided vehicle. It's just that truck and I had a great relationship in our 60000 miles together ( again, sarcasm) and it's interesting to see what utter failure it had now.

Lol I have never lost sleep with regards to a vehicle in my life and probably never will. You guys should start a Dr. Phil section on this forum if you want to have debates with regards to personal feelings. Their sure seems to be a lot of you.

If you don't notice I actually think it's hilarious because the truck is such an epic fail. Not mine, not my problem.

That said I will post what happened to it for those interested, namely myself.

I'd like to know... While I here postive things about the 6.2L output, I also hear about Oil pressure issues with these.
