I have a 07 silverado LTZ new body style, with the 5.3. My problem is everyone once in a while the service airbag light will pop on when you start it then it will die, then you can restart it and it might not do it for a week or a month then again it might do it the next day. Well i have had it at the dealership 5 times they have replaced a seat belt buckle passenger side, said they found a bad ground (might be BS) and a couple other things but just curious if i am the only one with this problem. Now they are supposed to be replacing the sensor for the passenger side that tells whether or not someone is in that seat????

My dad has the same problem with his 06 truck. He has had it at the dealer a million times. They just cant seem to fix it. If you find anything out im sure he would love to get it figured out.

starting to **** me off, but glad i'm not the only one they are putting in a passenger presence sensor so we will see what happens.

mine has been on since i bought it.. 07 classic.. annoying.

Mine came on one night while I was making a few blocks. Stayed on the whole next day and went off. Came back on about a week later for a few hours but since then it hasn't showed back up.

Has anyone found out what's up with the air bag light mine came on today

i got a recall letter in the mail saying that water may collect at the air bag module under the seat breaking down the seal. corrosion may occur which could lead to air bag light coming on or in rare cases seat belt pretensioner going off or air bag deployment. not sure if this is specific to regular cab work trucks that came factory with the rubber floor? not sure. but i have since replaced it with carpet and have catch all floor mats so im not worried about their recall.

Mine has done this for the past two years.. Same thing. Airbag light, then die when you start it.. I dont have any ideas.. If there is a TSB they should fix it under warranty right??


Will admit to letting the truck get rained in along time ago.. window down came a pseunami.. No idea.. My truck has carpet, pulled seats and carpet next day and allowed to dry for two days..

Shouldnt have hurt anything right??

Not to drag up a dead horse but does anyone know of the service call for this or a recall number or anything that i can go to the dealership armed with so that they will know what to do and can fix this immediately?

the recall paper i have does not have a recall number or anything on it but it does have a telephone number 1.866.996.9463 it says what the gmc dealer will do is remove the accoustical padding above the SDM. This service will be performed for you at no charge. any questions contact your GMC dealer or customer assistance at the above number.
