6l80e 2nd gear start??
This just me asking a question. I have no use for sencond gear lunch because I’m not boosted yet but.
Why can duramax’s program a tune that allows they to do a second gears start with their 6 speed and we can’t. It allows them to build 30 some pounds of boost on the line. They can just skip that really tall first gear.

The Allison transmission is a totally different breast compared to a 6L80e. Without doing a ton of research I do not think the 6 speed duramax transmissions are a clutch to clutch style like the GM 6L80 and 6L90's that's in 2 positions at once.
EFI Live must have some tables they can adjust to enable 2nd gear at stop but with a back draw of burning up the converter quickly if left on too long.
I know the 4L80e can have a trans brake option where I believe it bumps it into 3rd gear and then whacked it back into 1st when the button is released.
