There are instructions in the owner's manual as well. As many other people have said, break-in is based a lot on opinion. My truck has 900 miles, I started doing acceleration runs after 500 miles, and I haven't changed the oil yet.

During break in, its usually beneficial to change your oil early because of the particles that are built up with the break in process.

Somebody else on here said to drive until the display said to change the oil because there were additives from the factory to aid break-in. My display says I have 85% oil life left (I have 1100 miles on my truck). The owner's manual says nothing about when to change the oil the first time; the only mention of a break-in period is a suggestion to keep the truck below 55mph and not to maintain a steady speed for the first 500 miles. I was thinking about changing my oil within the next 150 miles but I am not sure yet.

The dealer told me that back in 07. They said when they assembled the motors and ran them to test them most the stuff came out then. And i assume they would put new oil/filter on and that additive if the dealer didn't
me.
I like how were the only ones replying to all these topics.

I agree, that's pretty crazy

Guess all these other people must work for a living. I usually sit at work behind my laptop and look busy lol.
I have the gut to prove it!

That was my plan - and then GM took away their dealership so now I'm stuck with a dealer that's nowhere near as cooperative.
