4.11's???

This is probably a stupid question but is this a price for front and rear 4.11's. I thought they where a lot more expensive

1999-2008 Chevy 4wd GM 8.6" 8.25" IFS Master Install 4.11 Gear Pkg - Ron's Machining Service

With my 22 x 10" and 33" I think some gears would help pulling my boat tremendously, I have the 3.42 now. How much should an install run. I'm not sure if it's something I could do my self since I never done anything like that before.

Gears are cheap.

That is for the front and rear diffs.

If you have a 6spd, get 4.56s.

Jonblarc7 08-22-2017 01:53 PM

you don't think 4.56s will be turning to high of an RPM at 75 with 33's even with the 6 speed.

I thought about 4.30's

Nope.

If anything it'll help as crazy as it sounds.

I estimate about 2500rpms in 6th with 4.56 gears and 33" tires at 65.

My 60e with a 29in tire and 4.11's turn about 2800 or so at 75.

If I did these calculations right using an online mph calculator here are the results.

Using the 6L80e with a 4.56 rear gear with 33in tires, a .667 6th gear ratio and a 1.1 transfer case ratio the rpms are roughly 2000-2100 at 65 mph.

Then it bumps up to around 2300ish at 75mph.

Jonblarc7 08-22-2017 03:05 PM

Well that doesn't sound that bad. Pulling my boat in 5th around 65 I think I'm running right around 2400 rpms. With these 33's it wants to down shift to 4th at the smallest of hills.

I was wrong 5 gear at 65 is 2000 RPMs now with 33's and 3.42's

It's a negligible difference.

Since you are concerned about 5th gear @ 65 mph for towing:
3.42 = ~1900 rpm
4.10 = ~2300 rpm
4.30 = ~2400 rpm
4.56 = ~2600 rpm

Same setup @ 75 in 6th for further comparison:
3.42 = ~1750 rpm
4.10 = ~2100 rpm
4.30 = ~2200 rpm
4.56 = ~2350 rpm

I have been considering 4.10s myself when I have to eventually open up the front differential for a rebuild.

Jonblarc7 08-24-2017 09:36 AM

Thanks for that

I think I would rather have 4.30s since we do take my truck for family trips to the beach. So I do drive at 75-80 mph some. I'm just not sure if 150 RPM would make a difference in MPG. If it doesn't I'll just get 4.56
