2010 6.2L/6L80 Sierra bolt on results (stock CAM)
I swooped by the dyno today made 367rwHp/390rwTq. Gained 44Hp @ 5,200rpm and about 40rwTq across the board after adding headers, UD pulley, and dialing in AFR/Spark with a personal tune... I was turning clod hopper 295/45/22's during both runs...
Top run: AFE Intake, 1 3/4'' AR Headers, 3.5'' Gibson Exhaust, UD Pulley, personal tune Bottom run: (April 2010) Varram Intake, 3.5'' Gibson Exhaust, stock tune http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...vs_headers.jpg |
Lookin good!

those are some awesome numbers from very little mods. Im about to bite the bullet on ordering a 2011 ext cab 2wd, 6.2/6l80e combo with 3.73 gears. Is yours a 2wd, and how are the 3.42's with the 6 speed. Im getting tired of modding the hell out of my 5.3 ls1, and losing mpg and gain very little.

These tires are usless when the temps are cool/good for making power... |
VERY nice #'s, Mark.
Patrick G will be dyno tuning mine with wide band in two weeks, hoping for results as good as yours. Though - I don't have BH (before headers) numbers to compare to. What kind of dyno did you do your pulls on? EDIT: never mind - I see it was on a DynoJet dyno. I believe that Pat G. uses a Mustang dyno, so a direct comparison to your #'s won't be possible. |

Hey what's a good street tire that still does ok at the track? My 22's gotta go need more grip and less weight...dis bitch will see 12.999 on stock CAM, it's going to take some new shoes or maybe some slicks  U got 4:10's on a 6L80, Damn Hoss? Does 1st gear feel useless at times for daily driver? |
nice work Mark, I ve been wondering where you have been as well.
General uhp's should be a good tire for you. Any comments on the afe vs vararam? I still haven't changed mine. |
hey allgonoshow, how well does your 6.2/6l80e/3.73's work on the street. Sorry to hijack the thread a bit. a 3.42 seems like a pretty good choice, i would imagine the 3.23 gear would be similar to a 4 speed with 3.73's.
|
Mine has the max tow pack, so came with 3.73's.
My summer tires are yoko spec x, 285/50/20. It will break em loose a bit, but not alot from a dig and chirps em on the 1-2 shift. Sounds like Mark may have a better tune dialed into his. 3.73 should be better from a dig. Where it shines is 2-3000 rpm kick downs, absolutely rips on a wot application 60 mph and up. Tows well too. |

Yea, I see DynoJet's read higher than a Mustang dyno...Shoot i'm just a DIY tuner, Pat G may be able to unlock some real ponies..please share when you are done... Compared to your deal - I'm running larger tube headers, but no UD pulley, stock cat-back and stock thermostat. I'm also running LARGE, heavy tires - P305/50's on Yukon 20s. I have been considering letting Pat G spec a VVT cam for me . . . I too would LUV to run a 12.999 with stocker cam, but don't believe that will happen without a high-stall converter. I'd like to scale my truck - both times I've raced it the scales were closed. GUESSING 5800# with my fat butt in the seat. I know it's a LONG trip from Lafayette, but I'm going to Nelson's truck race at San Antonio Raceway in February . . . any way you could make that? EDIT: Mark - what have you set your WOT upshifts at? |

Would be interesting to do a direct, back-to-back comparison on the same dyno.

My 1-2 upshift is set for 6,100 rpm, 2-3 is 6k rpm. I finish the 1/4 at roughly 5,800rpm in 3rd. My 3-4 is also 6k rpm when i'm feeling brave... After each shift i'm landing 200 rpm b4 peak Tq approx 4,200rpm... No can do on San Antone... I may be around Houston soon... |
UGH, make me want a 6.2 SOOOO BADDD

Yes it would be nice to do a back to back comparison to see what these trucks like and share with everyone else. The only way to get this brick out the hole on stock stall is bottom end, that's what i'm playing around with now using the 1 3/4's and VVT. If I can nail some 1.8 60's it may be worth 12.999...We shall see if my finesse foot is up to the challenge...I'm gonna have to lose some tire height and find a lighter wheel/tire sticker combo...

Admittedly before any tuning, my 60s at Nelson's deal last Feb were in the 2.2s - and back then I was running the stocker 275/55 tires!!! I suppose I need to borrow some 17s with decent tires for the track . . . If'n I run it with my current 305 tennies, I'm hoping like he!! I can run a mid-13. |

Thanks for the WOT upshift info - I'll prolly have Pat G set mine at 6K as I worry too much about bent pushrods rocker needle bearings falling out, LOL!

I think you covered on mid 13's unless you can't hook or the DA is bad for power...
I've had no problem hooking up at the track - on the street, well that's another story, LOL. Weather (and DA) SHOULD be pretty good at SAR in Feb. |

If someone runs a 12.9 with a stock cam 6.2 6spd with no power adders I think I know what my next truck will be :D

damn! impressive! its tough to keep mine stock haha

Must resist selling my truck.. Must Resist
These 6.2 motors are amazing! |
mark, e85 + cranked timing = torque.
full bolt ons in my truck would get 12's. or 4.10's and drag radials would get it really close. i can't go wot with the 373's till about 10 ft out. |

Somewhere I've read (on the GM Powertrain website IIRC) that the export L92 trucks were tuned for 95 octane fuel - and rated 441 HP! |
