Default 2008 RCSB Silverado - Cammed 4.8 to L92 6.2 Swap

What's going on, everyone? I currently have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2wd RCSB with the 4.8l V8 and 4L60E. It's cammed (TSP 220r), new springs/rods, Circle D 3-3200 stall, LT headers, one high flow Magnaflow cat (for smell), Magnaflow muffler, CAI, 3.73's and tuned by Black Bear (All other work done by me in my driveway). It's still a turd, so I just bought a complete L92 6.2L with 120k miles from a 2007 Escalade donor on eBay in hopes of swapping now and building better later as funds allow. I already kinda have plans for her, but feel free to share what you think works. It should be here later this week or early next (Photos attached are from the eBay seller, bowauto. Let's see if it's actually the same engine).

First, who has done this swap? Any issues to look out for? What have y'all done with the engine since? Photos to share? Was it worth it? Was it plug and play like some claim? Or was it a total pain in the d**k to get it running?

The truck is for work, commuting and goofing off when I get the chance. It will have long travel suspension and be a work truck/play toy later on down the road.

Unless there is a better place to post about swaps, this should begin the swap journey, so feel free to tag along. I intend to post as many issues, grins, and photos as much as time and greasy fingers allow. Let me know what y'all think.

Neat build! I would imagine it's all bolt on easy. You're using the pcm that came with the l92? Are you keeping the 4l60? If I were doing all this I'd swap in a 6l80 if the 4l60 isn't built.

A bit off topic. Does that magnaflow cat really help with the smell? Where did you mount it?

The L92 computer couldn't control the 4L60e. He will have to keep the E38 computer he is already running as that is matched to his TCM.

A custom tune is required to put the 6.2 data into the 4.8 tune file.

Thanks! I’m assuming I’ll use my own harness, ECM, TCM, etc. Keeping the 4l60 for now. It’s not built, but I honestly kinda want to see what I can throw at it. I’ve heard and read it can handle quite a bit. Later, I’ll upgrade if needed.

Having the cat definitely helps with the smell, quiets it down some and I feel like it did increase the backpressure. My ex hated that she always smelled like fuel, so I put it on between the flange to the y-pipe and the muffler. No complaints.

That’s what I was thinking also. I will have the L92 ECM if needed. Definitely tuning it after the swap.

Sweet. Hoping it’ll be a simple engine swap.

I wont clog up your thread but I installed a vibrant cat after the ypipe. The smell is gone. Thanks!

The 6.2 L92 finally arrived after some crummy weather. I've got it stored safely on my job site and awaiting an open weekend to swap it out. Attached is also a photo of my '93 that I just bought in Denver, CO and drove back to Houston, Texas to replace an older '88 I had and will serve as my DD while I work on this swap. It'll never be for sale.
