Default 2007 NNBS Chevy/GMC 4.8/5.3's

I am considering getting into a single cab 2007 Chevy. I am leaning toward getting a 4.8 liter, just because I'm not that crazy about the DOD system. I guess technology scares me. LoL. But I have had 5.3's in both of my last trucks and while I would not mod heavily on this truck, I do want to do some of the basics about to the amount of what my current truck has.

I know that the power and torque ratings are up on all engines. I also know that on the 5.3's they have the LS6 heads. Is this the only reason for the power increases or are there other factors? Also, is this the same reason that the 4.8's have the extra power or is it in the tune? Just trying to see how much potential there is to be had.

The truck would be about 1/2 second slower in the 1/4 then the 5.3 would be. But if your going to tow anything it will be very sluggish compared to the 5.3.

Mod for Mod that is.

I wouldn't do it. I prob. wouldn't even get a NNBS at this point, but if I did, it would AT LEAST have a 5.3 in it. Save yourself future headaches. Why not hold out for the newer style RCSB? They are gonna look sick with a little bit of exterior mods.
