Default 07 Fuel pump replacement - pump only not entire basket

can it be replaced just like the older trucks, and just put in a Walbro ?

the truck orginally had a 5.3. That took a dump after a big cam with the stock DOD lifters.

Now it's a big mild cam with a LY6 (6.0 L92 heads)

I can beat the living snot out of the truck, cruse at normal speeds, or acell heavy or slow with no issues.

If I let the truck coast for long distances, it dies. It can be down or up an over pass, flat ground . . . whatever, long distance coasting kills the truck.

Once I'm on the side of the road, I have to crank the truck for a while, or just let it sit for 10 min. I can turn the key forward, but there's no prime from the fuel pump.

If I relieve the pressure from the fuel rail, then hit the key forward with out starting, you can hear it prime, then the truck will start.

Is this a fuel pump problem? . . . I've checked all the grounds. And like I said, WOT driving is solid with no issues.

yup a lil ridiculous, if i were u i would change that cheap ole fuel filter out, you might have a restriction.... when u get it off cut it open to check if that was the problem, id try that before i buy a new pump, lil easier on the pocket book.... i have a 95 chevy truck and my fuel filter is just on the frame maybe yours will be too

There is a check ball in the fuel pump assembly that tends to get stuck on the NNBS. If it gets stuck, you have no choice but to replace the assembly.

The filter is in the tank on the bottom of the pump. You can't replace it without pulling the pump assembly.

Swapped the pump with a Walbro, same problem....

Any details on that check ball?.... just replace the entire basket?

Fuel pressure is all over the place. Truck fired up with out the relay on the fuse box and drove it the rest of the way home, very weird
