i found this:
Cluster Issue Tsb And Claim Form - Z71Tahoe-Suburban.com

But i think its a few years/miles past the date if i read right?
I gots lucky, had my cluster replaced under the claim. My tach started ticking, like a wristwatch, instead of a smooth movement. Took it in and talked with the manager, who said it's cool, we'll take care of it (IIRC, the replacement expires after 75k miles, I was at about 110k).

But yeah, known problem. Also the intermediate steering shaft clunk, blower motor resistor, middle rear seat seatbelt loop (dealer will sew it closed, safety reason or something). I'll post more if I think of them.

Yeah, I picked up one of the new design shafts and the clunk came back after a few months. You can pump the shaft ( ) in and out a few times to grease the threads, but it works for shorter and shorter periods each time.

I have all of the stuff to tap and install a zerk in my old one, but need to find a plug for the end to keep the grease in there. One of my many little projects...
