Default Wiring harness for rearview mirror temp sensor

Hey, I got a mirror from the junkyard today for $25. The harness to plug into the mirror is above the headliner. It's just tucked up there unused. My question is, what wire bundle does the sensor thats mounted by the tranny cooler hook into. I followed a few that I saw in the junkyard on varoius Tahoes/Silverados and such. The wire seems to be part of a bundle that's grounded to the bumper support. This was on vehicles that came optioned with the temp in the mirror. I followed the bundle towards the light cluster. It went behind the drivers side light cluster, Now my Silverado didn't come with this. I had the front end apart and couldn't find the harness. Anybody know if non equipped cars had this harness there unused, or do I have to splice into it? Which one do I splice into. There is 2 wires in the harness. One is green with a white stripe. The other is black with a white stripe.
