My truck is a 2007 classic (03-06 body style) single cab silverado. We are converting it to a v8 and have got the motor bolted up to the 4l60e with the v6 converter using a 5.3 flywheel. We got a harness off a guy who claims it came from an 05 silverado. Whenever we started running the harness, we realized that there was nothing there for the electrical fans. After further examining the V6 harness, we realized that it also has a module that looks like some sort of alternator control module. I believe that the sole purpose of this is for the electrical fans?
Alternator control module wiring:
V6 harness plugs that are missing on the V8 (One goes to fans and other goes to the module):
Would I be better off getting a proper harness for a 2006/2007 with electric fans or are the harnesses identical other than the alternator plug and the pinning for the fans (meaning I can pull them off the V6?
Also, are all of the harnesses off of any 06-07 2wd 4l60e going to be identical?
The Efans are not on the engine harness it self. The 2 pin plug you are holding, that is the trigger for it. The Efan harness is integrated in the Headlamp harness on the core support.
The other plug goes under the fuse box somewhere. Either to the body harness or the rear tail lamp harness under the fuse block.
The other module you are referencing on the negative cable is the Generator Battery Control Module. Its part of the charging system on the 05-07 classic V8 trucks.

Can anyone clarify if a 2006 5.3 2WD Yukon will have the same harness as a normal 4.8 / 5.3 / 6.0 07 classic 2WD Silverado?
I found one that I can buy and I think it will have all of the correct plugs (2 pin alternator since it seems that the 05 one has a 3 pin?, fan setup, etc) if they can be swapped.
I compared the vin off of a 2006 2wd SS Silverado truck and it shows to have a different part # for the harness than the 2006 Yukon one does so I was not certain.

An 05 harness should work and have a 2 pin plug for the alternator. Prior to that was a 4 pin plug.
An SS only had one engine package option where as a tahoe had a few options. Flex fuel for one would make it have different injector plugs and would there for dictate a different harness that would not work for the SS application.
