Default Will this void my warranty

I am thinking about adding headers with no cat. I'm also considering a new chip, if I can find one to help improve mpg. I am not too worried about the mpg but would like to see if I can get it up closer to 20mpg from 17.8. Also looking at cold air intake and maybe elect. fans. Before I make any changes I was wondering if anyone knows if any of this will affect my warranty.

2006,GMC,CCSB,5.3,Completly stock right now.

I thought the 06 came with electric fans??? Yes, headers with no cats will void your warranty, but should only void certain aspects of it. You could add cats with the headers to keep it legal. Also, there are no longer "chips" used. You could get a programmer but a custom tune would be the way to go and are usually cheaper. I got a performance tune and gained mpg as well as power. If you go with longtube headers and no cats, you will need it tuned anyway to take care of the check engine light and to get the most from your headers. Intakes won't affect warranty, neither will the electric fans unless you don't hook them up right and you overheat your engine but your truck should already have them installed from the factory.

By adding just headers alone will void your factory GM warrany. Much less, if you delete the cats, GM would **** a wildcat...lol. So yes, you warranty will be null. A cold air kit won't void the warranty, but if you over oil the filter and it get on the MAF sensor, then you'll have to pay for the repair. Anytime you have you vehicle programmed by either a handheld tuner or a professional Tuner like Allen @ Nelson performance, then if it's caught by a GM technician, yes that'll void you warranty too. But most good professionals will not have their tune traceable by a GM Tech II.

it is against federal law for them to void your warranty- they can deny a warranty claim if a problem is caused by your mods though.

magnusson-moss act FTMFW!

basically it states that IF the problem can be linked to your modifications, the warranty claim can be denied. However if they cannot prove your modifications are the reason for said claim, it is still in tact.

So if you put headers on and say your mass airflow sensor goes out, its still under warranty. Or if you put a cold air on and your motor blew up it'd be under warranty. just using them for examples.

Read your warranty before you do anything to truck. My best friend bought used Ford with diesel engine and banks six-gun on it form the dealer and two weeks after he bought the truck it blow a head gasket and crack one of the heads. The warranty depart wouldn't even cover truck because it had the banks six gun on it. He bought the truck from the dealer with this kit installed already on the truck. He ends up getting truck fix for free after he got a lawyer. Now he trying to get his warranty money backs because doesn't cover anything but wiring.

I work for GM gentlemen, and I can assure they CAN void your warranty if you install aftermarket parts that cause anothe rpart to fail. It's called a Warranty Block.

I worked with GM for years, most of the time the dealer made the call. Make friends with the service manager and/or a good technician.

Exactly, but it has to be your part that made the problem. They cant just void your warranty because you put on a part. The Ford dealership here sells hypertechs and covers them under warranty. I am lucky to have a great service dept where I bought my truck,Southern Chevrolet. They used to love when I would bring it in. People drive from across the state to get work done there. The service manager never asks questions. He installed a complete power steering pump and rack and pinion in my truck, no charge and I had been out of warranty for 17,000 miles. Now that is service.
