Why is it so important for some guys to have their truck be faster than the other brands. I'm tallking all truck guys, on all truck sites! The Chevy boys have to beat all the others, same goes for the Dodge, Ford, Nissan and Toyota boys. Don't get me wrong, I want to make my truck faster but not because I have to beat all the other brands, I just want more power. If I happen to get in a race, I either win or I lose. I won't make excuses and get pissed if I get beat by another brand. I didn't by my Ram because I thought it was the fastest truck on the planet, it's not or will it ever be. I bought it because I liked everything about it, the whole package of power, handling, looks, etc. Again, why is it so important?

I wanna be faster than EVERYONE! I could care less what brand you drive as long as I can beat you.
I think it is reinforcment thing. Poeple wanna know they bought the best truck out there and making that truck faster than X brand is their way of showing they are right. Even though we all know that modding the truck throws this logic out the window but hey, I still see window sticker that say "If you ain;t a Raiders fan you ain't ****" I put those people in the same dumbfuck category as the guys that tell me my truck sucks because it's not a ....insert brand name here.....

j/k Jim. Glad you still hang around here. I personally love power. I've only raced a handfull of times away from the track. Mostly, I get satisfaction from knowing that I'm faster than that guy, and that guy, and that guy, and ...
You know how it is. You've been in two camps now. You want your choice in vechicle to be the "right" choice. And if your truck is faster than a similar brand x,y,or z, then you made the right choice, so you can go home and eat dinner with a smile on your face.

Good question Jim. Personally, I've always been under the assumption that there is always somebody faster than you so I don't get all worked up if so and so's truck/car/lawnmower beat me. I bought my truck because I'm a GM fan and I wanted a Chevy truck. I've owned other brands but I like my GM's. I think alot of people get sucked into the advertising hype that brand X truck is better. No offense to the Hemi guys but we've all seen what that advertising campaign did. Also, I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the truck market is currently in a horsepower/performance war like the muscle cars had back in the 60's and early 70's.

JSmith said it nicely. i don't have to be the fastest out there cause i am not. however, it feels good and strokes the ego a bit when you can smack around a few other trucks of different makes. My thing is I want them to wish they had gotten a GM....

hell, if I wanted a race truck I would have kept my single cab '00 5.3 truck,
it would have been paid off last year and would have had some serious **** in it by now. I bought my truck for looks mainly and it having a 6.0 didnt hurt either.

I think it is just natural to want to beat someone else. Growing up, it was always a competition, who could run fastest, pedal fastest, fastest lawnmower, go kart , atv, etc... and that just spills over into trucks. Just older boys with more expensive toys. To me it is all in fun. I know my truck isn't nearly as fast as some, whatever make or model, heck, I have been smoked by a jeep and even, a yamaha banshee.

well now this is an interesting topic. to tell you the truth i race more chevy's than i do any other brand.guess i just dont post them.i think it will always be a fiecre friendly rivalry. we always want to be the fastest.like stated above. we want to go home with a smile knowing we beat a lightening or a ford or a dodge. heck i even go home saying i beat this dude and that dude. most being chevy's. and i will have to tell you. i got beat the other day by a ss. but heck i had to pick on him. i think that in this type atmosphere among chevy owners or x-y-z you will have die hard followers that will tend to want to defend the chevy name. all in all i like to see chevy the fastest. but i also apllaud to all that have run fast.
