Old school 327

5.3 LM7 323-325

Seriously, IDIOTS! I'm tired of hearing people say they have a 327 in there truck, or putting 327 emblems on it.

Because the 327 has "history" as a performance engine. The uneducated associate it with power, just like the Dodge people associate the current "Hemi" with the old school hemi's from back in the day. They just don't know any better...

Never said it doesn't, I don't know anything about the current hemi's. I'm pretty sure it does, in fact a lot of today's engines do. It's a very efficient combustion chamber and fits well with the 3 and 4 valve, overhead cam heads being built today.

Its all in what people think. 5.3 is close to 327 so people associate it with the classic 327. Just like the old 5.7 was a 350 and the new 5.7 is a 346. They don't know any better, it just sounds cool to them to say they got a 327 in there truck. Most of them can't even change there own oil.

I don't think a 5.3 being called a 327 is a big deal. It's like people running a 13.999 one time and saying they have a 13 sec truck. Let them be.

but a 13.999 is still a 13 second time. An engine that has never been the same size or same technology as an old 327 is not a 327 at all. If you were to compare our engines to ANY other kind of motor, it would be an LS1.

it's because American's HATE the metric system so we don't understand it. We look up FIVEPOINTTHREE and it says 325CI......WTF kind a Chevy is that? Now the 327ci was a beast of an engine so it makes the owner all warm and fuzzy to think he has one.

btw I run 11.

I have been in a few debates about that too, i also hate when guys with an 8.1 say they have a 502 big block. Ive even seen it painted on the side of a cowl hood "8.1L 502 Big Block Chevy" Whatever, just makes them look smart i guess.
