why do people say that a 02 5.3 is faster than an 00-01 5.3?

There are going to be exceptions. Most of the times an 02+ will be faster.

I know this question was asked, but I don't think it was answered. I'll ask it in another way.

Say you have a 2001 and a 2002, both are the same truck. If you do a custom tune and cam on both (same), then there shouldn't be a difference...theoretically. Is this true? Or is the 02 pcm just better period. Are we talking about stock trucks here? Doesn't all this get thrown out the window when you do a tune or cam?
