Default Where to mount radar detector.

Since I live in VA and they are illegal, wheres a good place to mount the radar detector that isnt very visible? Some pics of how you have them mounted would be great also.

Get a K40, mounts in grill and then u have a little LED lite that you could put anywhere and shut off with a twist.

Escort has some nice stealth systems, but they are expensive as hell. Are you looking for something like that or more of an inconspicuous location for a regular detector?

I have a bel 980 and I dont want to buy another one if I dont have to. I d like a remote unit but this one works great here, so I just want to install this one. And so far, I cant really see any good places.

My truck has a tinted visor at the top of the windshield and I have my detector mounted right above the rearview mirror. The only thing you can see is the cord, but I am sure you can hide that too if you needed to.

That's exactly where I have mine mounted. Seems like the only place to me.

My brother had his hard-wired into the fuse panel. He ran the cord behind the headliner and down the a-pillar.

I have mine done the same...above the mirror, cord goes up into the headliner, down the passenger a-pillar, through the dash to the remote control unit, then over to the fusebox in the driver's side panel.

Damn that is clean radar detectors are legal in TX and that makes me want to do mine that way. How did you cut the plastic panel so cleanly to put the remote switch in there. Im going to order the hardwire kit tomorrow. IMO mount the detector behind the rear view get an eyebrow tint done on ur truck then hardwire it to the fuse panel. Damn near invisible unless you do get pulled over then I would recommend ripping it of and throwing it in the floorboard.
