how much fuel is in your gas tank? Obviously, weight matters and an easy way to get rid of it is to not fill the tank completely. So how much is optimal, or does it really matter?

Well, I try to only have about an 1/8 to a 1/4 of a tank, weight does matter. For every 100 lbs to put on or take off, it's worth .1 seconds. However, I tried dropping the spare and removing the tailgate to save weight but then all I did was spin. Taking to much weight off over the rear tires will hurt traction. When I go to the track, I go in full street trim to see how it'll run the way I drive it every day, some strip it down, I don't.

I just go to get the best et I can, so I have no idea what I run in street trim. I take out my back seat, subwoofers, tailgate, spare, and I run with about an 1/8 tank. Right now I have no traction problems.

It's a long drive for me so I take about a 1/2 tank. My theory is that if I lose by that much I did something wrong or it's time for another go fast part.

Ive raced with damn near an empty tank with spare and tailgate and with full tank with spare and tailagte and every other combo possible and for me if I go with the tailagte off and the spare off with a 1/4 tank It has been for 1/10 but Ive been where all of the **** removed and empty tank and it didnt matter. If I were you I would just try both ways. You can always remove the tailagte and spare at the track so try on a fuel tank and then the next weekend try a 1/4 tank! Also put in about 8-10 gallons of the oxygenated 110 octane(i think its 110-its been a long off season for me)race gas. It was worth damn near 3 tenths one night and that was compared against damn near the exact atmosphere!

i also try to get there with around 1/8 to 1/4 tank of gas. after 5 or so passes i'm usually getting close to the E which is around where you start to starve the pump comming off the line.

I go with no less than a 1/4 tank because of fuel pump issues. Starvation or heat is my main concern.

If I know I am gonna get a ton of runs in I'll go with 1/2tank. Sometimes when I'm just lazy and not expecting much out of the truck I'll just run with whatever. More than a few times I've ran with 3/4 tank LOL
