I use a reusable oil filter. I let my oil drain for about an hour anyway in that time i wash my filter and let dry.

This one does filter down to 5 microns. It just says that at 25 microns there is unrestricted flow, but it does filter down to 5 microns.
It just worded poorly.

I still don't like the idea of being washable, I just can't believe you will get everything out of it.

next time I clean mine I'll take a picture and show it to you. I like it but I'll let you make that call.

Does your camera take pictures down to 5 microns?

Nice write-up.

If you are just concerned with what particles you are getting then an oil filter cutter would be good for <$40.

I decided to go ahead and install my dual filter kit. I got 2 Pure One 30001 filters, there pretty big, at least twice stock size each. I just have to finish running the lines tomorrow and hook it up. It should hold at least another QT, and tons better filtering.

I dont see why it wouldn't be a lifetime filter. the brakekleen you would use to wash out the element certainly goes down to five microns. You would just direct the used brakekleen into your waste oil and go recycle it when done. Or use a solvent tank.

Many motorcycles use permanent filters. And they see some high stress placed on their oil.

This SUX!!! I think the filtering system is crappy on LSx motors. Thry use THE SAME filter on the 2.4L 4 banger!!! Not good enough for 400hp+ motors IMO. I dont want to have to change my filter every 2-3k miles to keep it filtering good.

I went to install my "universal" remote dual filter kit and the damn place where the filter goes is too small. I cant find ANYTHING to fit it right. I may take it to a maching shop and see if they can take some material off the sides so it will fit.

At $4 a filter, thats 50 regular oil filters, changed at 3k miles, going to take 150,000 miles worth of oil changes to break even. Or if you like me and run mobil1 change every 5k-6k miles.....going to take a while.
