I got a question, In the video tha 4.8 Like really smoked the tahoe really bad. Is that for real? is the 4.8 that much faster than a 5.7 tahoe? I mean that was really sad. I feel bad for the guy. off the line was one thing but 5 car lengths at 20mph roll. My god man, Time to retire the tahoe and get a dodge. LOL

 

Yes the 4.8 is really that fast. I had a '98 silverado with a cam etc... and it did not have the top end these LS1 based motors have. Good tourque down low but....
I am curious as to all this 4.8 vs Hemi stuff. The Hemi is rated at 345hp right? So why does'nt someone with a LQ9 denali or escalade finish this once and for all. They both have 345hp right?? If all the Hemi can do is compare with the 4.8 then the argument is already finished.

I try to look at all this a little more level headed than a lot of people, This will go on until the end of time, It's always gonna be "Mine is faster than your" Mine is bigger than yours" so on and so forth. It's all about competition. Which is all good as long as it is done in fun. Some people seem to be getting really pissed over all the dodge chevy talk. I just don't understand why anyone would say Dodge is a POS or chevy is a POS. Bottom line: They are both Very nice good trucks. It is just gonna get worse when The mods start coming out for the Hemi. It's all in good fun. Right?

 

I agree with L82gofast. The older Vortec motors do not have the top end of the LS1 based Vortec truck motors. These trucks actually have decent low end power also but, the top end is so strong that it makes them seem kinda weak down low.(Same with the Fbodys)

My Dads '96 5.7L was a dog compared to his '99 6.0L.

I'm a GM guy and always will be no matter what, just how I grew up. Price, performance, etc. just don't matter to me. When I sit in other trucks(Ford, Dodge) they just don't appeal to me. I'm used to GM and have never had a major problem with any that I've owned that I didn't cause . I think every brand has people like me and that makes it pointless to argue, easier to just get along.

Supertom - Glad you are keeping an open mind and not getting in to all this crazy stuff. Maybe if you stay around long enough we can convert you over to a GM?

 

Don't have to convert me, I already have both. I like them both. What leaned me to getting a dodge was the Legendary Hemi name. I had the chevy first, actually a GMC then the chevy. I do know this, I will NEVER own another Ford. It took 3 of them but I learned my lesson.
