V6 problems
#1
I have had my truck for about 3 months now and today it starts acting up
1st
I was in park and my truck was running and all of a sudden the needle on the gas gauge drops and my low fuel light comes on it did it again about 8 hours later then again tonight it always happens after about 2-3 minutes of being in park when i put it in drive it jumps right back up is this normal?
2nd
Whenever I try and get on it it sounds like running water is this normal and it doesnt seem like its getting up and going it only shifts at about 2500 rpms even at wide open throttle it just seems weird any opinions?
Thanks in advance
O my truck is a 2000 chevy silverado v6 rcsb 2wd

Here is what the tech manual says about you fuel gauge problem.
Condition/Concern:
The customer may advise that the fuel gauge is inaccurate or drops to empty (E) and that the low fuel light comes on. The customer may further advise that this condition is most apparent when the gauge is at or below the quarter (1/4) tank mark.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Try to duplicate the concern by driving the vehicle a short distance in reverse and then stopping (to make fuel slosh), shifting transmission to park or neutral and then shifting to drive. The fuel gauge will have a tendency to read lower than actual. The gauge will take a few minutes to show the actual fuel level. The VCM/PCM is the buffer for the fuel gauge.
1. On a automatic transmission no buffering takes place when the transmission is in park or neutral. This is a NORMAL and NO repairs are necessary.

It's hard to say about the running water sound without being able to hear it. I can't think of anything right now what would make a noise like that and not be causing other problems. My frist thought was the that the mechanical fan tends to make a bunch of noise when the fan clutch is engaged so maybe your fan clutch is bad, or it could be something completely different.
As far as the transmission goes it could be a number of things, anywhere from internal transmission problems to a bad TPS or speed sensor.
