Dunno yet, but it looks to be a redesign like GMT800 to GMT900 was.

Wonder if the new platform will extend to the HD trucks, the NNBS HD trucks are still using the old frame/suspension.

And I just dont like having DOHC's in an american truck, I realize the benefits but it just doesnt sound right. Since the SBC was introduced in the 50s we have had work-horse pushrod engines in our trucks. Its a sign of the times I suppose.
We knew it was coming...

If it's anything like f'ing with the Mustangs here it'll suck. Which I'm sure it will be.

I can't see a new body style in 2012, it's just too soon. Maybe a new frame and and a face lift?

I can see it happening. Cant really afford to keep a truck 10 years and just give it a face lift. New truck, new engines, get the 6-speed standard by then, gotta change things up more often to stay competitive now.

I can very well see new desighn on a updated gmt900 chasis with a new HD one. it would make total sense. five to six years for the gmt900 would be perfect. There will be a new ford(updated chasis but pretty much the same) new dodge(updated chasis but pretty much the same) a new titian(who knows) and probably a updated tundra. Why not a new silverado/sierra and a totaly new HD. 6.2l DOHC good for over 425 hp easy and 450lbtq a new direct inject 5X(bet its a 5.7) would be good for atleast 375 hp and 425 lbtq and a new six speed whats not to like. There will probably be weight saving with carbon fiber as well(just a guess) I would guess it will have a hybrid and diesel version as well. It looks like a great future. Think about it. You can see the tings being put into motion. A diesle with 320+hp and 520+lbtq, A 6.2 with 425HP and 450 tq, and the base motor a 5.7 with over 350hp that will get 25plus mpg and for the HD i rember reading about a 450 hp 850 lbtq dmax possible for future HDs WOW. Bright future I can see but its all IMAO

yeah yeah- it was in one of those LS1 books. I was always under the impression that DOHC motors didn't far as well in the low end torque department hence the reason to continue with OHV. WEll- I guess if that's what it'll take to sell a truck so be it then, with a heavy heart..............

VVT should take care of that problem.
They may even add a variable geometry intake, or Valvtronic throttle control, or...

Ever driven the new tundra 5.7 or the Titan 5.6. Those things are pure low end tq monsters and are both dohc. GM's and dodge's ohv motors are much more rev happy. It just goes to show that the way the valves are operated doesn't really effect the power band. Its how the heads/intake manifold/cam is designed that does
