Default Two questions about tires......

Yes, this has probably been asked before, but indulge me........

1. I'm about to get tires and mount up my Joe Gibbs wheels (20x8.5). Truck will only have a 2" shackle on it. What is the consensus (since I've read a hundred different opinions) about the best size, visually. AND...what tire are people running and liking (or hating). I've been thinking Grabber UHPs.

2. Anyone in the DFW area have a trusted shop that will not **** my wheels up? I cringe at the thought of some idiot working it with a couple of tire irons..."well **** Jim, guess we need a bigger hammer." Or better yet, trying to use clip on weights on them.

Thanks, sorry if I offended any Jims.

285/50 will look good with just a shackle drop. That's the size I'm running on my 20's with shackles and spring clamps.

Can't really speak on size, I'm not a big 20's fan myself. But as far as tires, I have the Grabber UHP 275-55-17 and I absolutely love them. Had the Yokohama AVS S/T's before on 275 60 17 and while they were a great performance tire, they rode rough as hell and wore like ****. I'm basically running the same setup 2" shackle drop only with spring clamps and the grabbers and the ride is every bit as smooth as the stock generals was, but with the performance traction and cornering. And while they are a little louder than stock, it only seems to be on certain pavement surfaces that I get a lot of road noise, but again, nowhere near the yoko's. I've also heard good things about the Toyo Proxes ST's.

I have had 2 sets of toyos and loved them both... the 285/50 will look nice and the toyos are a very good performance tire. I am running 255/55-18's on torque thrusts

Try Discount they should easily mount a 20" with their machines, I think they can do 26" now. Saying that you might go to the Discount where everyone is complete dip , and try to tell you that 20"s will not fit on your truck.

i would go with the bfg g-force takdw....some 295/40r20's would look good....thats what im getting soon.. right now i have 285/50 GTII's and they look god but i like the tread design of the BFG's and the added performance of the tire...if you think the side wall for that would be too small you could go with 295/45's pretty much the same height as 285/50's just 1cm shorter...

i'm running the general grabber uhp 275/45 on my 20's. you have a tad wider wheel so you could probably go wider. but i love these tires. the best i have owned so far.
