Default Truck wouldn't run over 85???

Tried to haul *** home the other night and she wouldn't go over 85mph. Tried several times, but it was like the speed limiter was reset to 85. Drove it yesteday and all is fine, runs up to 100 no problem. This ever happen to you guys? Truck is 110% stock.

Well it did it again last night, but I had my GPS with me this time and I think I know what the problem is...the stepper motors for the speedo & tach are taking a dump on me. The GPS shows 100, but the speedo only shows 85, and the rest of the speeds were 20-30mph off. It has only done it at night with the headlights on, so I hope there isn't something else causing this. The speedo has been 'ticking' for a couple months and noticed last night that the tach is starting to do the same. Just thought I'd post my findings in case anyone else runs across the same problem.

Turn the headlights on, during the day, and see if it happens again.

Nope, just the crappy gm guage cluster. I think on th '04 if you are under 70,000 miles they will warranty the cluster.
