Cool Truck Newb

I wanted to introduce myself in this section, I have been lurking in here for a couple of weeks now and you guys seem like a close knit group. I picked up a new DD, its a 05 VHO.

First newb question, has anybody taken the time to auto-tap these LQ9s on 89 octane to see if they get any knock? I searched and didn't see anyone with any first hand knowledge. I am running 93 w/ this south texas heat, just wondering if I can get away without it during the 3 days we get called winter

Hey

Welcome to the truck sections Trey.

There are a few VHO guys on here so I'm sure someone will chime in eventually with some info. Those VHO's are pretty quick, especially with a few mods.

It might tell you in the owners manual what the minimum gas you should run is, worth a quick look.

My brother ran 87 for a few months in his SSS before his tune and there were no problems but I would stick to at least 89.
