Default trans cooler

Putting in a new engine and trans. My stock trans had no cooler, fluid lines just ran in and out of the radiator. I want to add a trans cooler, am I wrong in thinking I can just plug those radiator holes with some closed fittings and run the trans lines straight to and from the new trans cooler.

You can do that no problem. You can even spray some carb clean through the top fitting on the cooler and clean the trans fluid out of the cooler.
