and it is even a 4wd unit. who wants to help me throw it in? i pulled the pan off the old one, pulled the filter and riped it open to check for metal and it has alot of metal in it. FLP told me if there was any metal in it i would need to service my converter.
there is a shop in town that will cut it open, clean it, weld it back together and balance it for $150, that is better than a new converter but i wont be able to get it to them till thursday and i don't know if they will be able to get it done in one day. suposta be a nice weekend too, i bet there will be some racing going on on friday.

Good news. Have you contacted Yank on the converter issue? I wonder who would do a better job, the manufacutrer or a local shop, or if it even matters? I would feel better having Yank do it, but it would probably take a while to get it done. I do agree with getting the converter cleaned out - you really wouldn't want metal flowing through your new transmission.
You could run the stock converter until your Yank has been cleaned. Then you can have times - before AND after the converter. I for one would be interested in seeing how much the Yank helps your times.
Good luck.

"how much metal?"
well there is a flake about 1/16" or smaller(and thin) about every 1/2" apart in the filter and there was one chunk about 3/16" or so in the pan. i am not sure what that chunk is and there was only one. i called the place in town and it takes a couple of days. i am prety sure they can handle the job. i would love to feel the diference between just the 2 converters and if one of you guys wants to come help me do all the swaping around we can try it but it is just too much work for me to do more than once.

I understand the extra work bit, but look how much work you have in it anyway. After the tranny, you won't have much else to work on for a while, so put the stock one back in for a little bit. Swapping it back in will give you one more small CHEAP project to work on over a weekend. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I really want to see before and after timeslips with that converter.

"small" project? where do you get that from, i just got the tranny out and it took me 3-4hours, i figure it will take me the same amount of time to get it back in. i used a floor jack to help me lower it down so it wasn't too bad but i just used my arms to do the transfer case and that mother is heavy.
a 6-8hour project wouldn't be all that bad but that much time laying under my truck isn't my idea of a fun project.
