Default is this tranny/rear end setup not good with my engine?

i decided on going with an ls2 for the show truck vs. the ls7 because of the money reasons and i am just going to build the ls2 up a little..

now i had planned on going with an FLT 80e.. with a moser 12 bolt rear end.. i thought this would be a good combo but i've heard from a few people this is going to rob power.. is this true? or will it even be a noticeable difference? i wanna have it setup right for when i drive it it will be fun to drive.. but i want the drivetrain to be strong and reliable as possible even if it means it robs a little power.. what would yall do?

What truck?
My 4L65e FLT trans is holding up well to the power I'm feeding it so far. Do you plan on going FI?
The Level 5 FLT 4l65e is recommended for less than 500hp (rwhp) so if your future holds nitrous or FI then go with the 80e.

its going in a 99 gmc regular cab truck... i'm putting a crate ls2 in it with lingenfelter port and polished heads, cam, heads exhaust, intake and gonna get it tuned.. not sure what kind of power that will be putting down.. its gonna be a show truck so i may ad a power adder of some sort later on down the road..

You will notice a difference with the 80E. 1st gear sucks a lot. For big power though, it's necessary. 60/65 has a 3.06 1st gear, stock 80E has a 2.48. Someone makes a kit that gives you a 2.75 1st, can't remember who though.

GM sells the first gear conversion it comes in the 80es that go into motorhomes etc. If you dont want to have to worry go 80e, the rear sounds fine but you have to get custom spring perches and figure out the brakes for the rear. If you arent going to be launching on slicks at the track then a 10 bolt beefed up with good axles, girdle and a good posi should be more then enough, but if you plan on using slicks then definately 14 bolt or 12 bolt.
