Also Cognito makes pitman and idler arm braces for the 1500's that help with 4wd launches. They keep the centerlink from rolling rearward during a launch-which causes the toe in.

Sureshot had the whole Cognito kit[braces, idler bracket, heim tie rods]on his 06 DMAX with 35" tires and a higher power McRat tune.It would launch straight as hell.

I haven't put the top TB back on yet. Plan on a custom hood once I finalize the air induction path.

First arrangement:

Current:

Would be nice to not have to go any taller, but I think there will be too much vacuum in the intake at WOT with just a single 90mm. Haven't had a chance to test that yet.

How bout if your run the first set-up but without the cone shaped filters but rather the old Muscle car shapped frisbee ones. And custom cut one filter to fit two TB's! Just a shot in the dark here, I mean it's more the filter than the TB's that are causing the height clearance problem.

With the opposing angles of the engine vs hood rake the forward TB adds at least an inch to the height. Add a 2" filter( 3" overall and a coupling mechanism and we are up to at least 4.5" more height. The elbow is only about 7/8" taller than a TB alone. That may clear a 6" scoop if I keep it to the rear. it will also bring the TB down lower just over one of the blower housings. Intake can be ducted from there. Also looked at a cobra head 90* rubber elbow on a vertical TB, but that still adds 4" to the height.

The elbow will require a bumpout in the pass side of the scoop though. The excess flange material can be shaved off.

You can get one of those super wide cowl's that I've seen a few trucks. It's almost the whole width of the truck and it looks pretty good. And if you do that you could have the other TB going out the other way!! Back to Symmetry!!

What is the rationale for drag tire height? I will be launching on 800 to 1000 ft-lbs of torque. I don't think I need the gear-down effect of a shorter tire. Even my Nitto 32s are looking pretty tiny at the Avs' stock ride height.

The more sidewall you get the more sidewall flex you'll have and better traction. The larger diameter the larger the footprint on the pavement as well. Basically, you want the smallest wheel diameter and largest tire height you can fit but you have to consider gearing changes. Also, too tall of a tire and you will have rake which isn't good for traction.
If you can fit a 15" wheel, go with them. A 30" tire would do well on a 15 or 16" rim. A shorter tire in the rear may look goofy but would give you instant weight transfer.

Thinking of a set of slicks on the rear and running in 2WD. Will have to see what sort of tire/wheel combos I can come up with that will work/fit. Wheels will have to be 16 in minimum.
