I know it isn't ideal. A little less cam, a little more conver. Maybe both. But just how bad will a 4.8 with TB stall and 3.73's be around town? This is a short term deal for a long term project. I'm not expecting any impressive track times or anything, I just can't bear the thought of "just" a 4.8 until I'm ready to go big.
I got a TB stall in the man cave I keep tripping over, and don't feel like dropping the trans to put in the CC so it's available for the truck I will be getting.
Right now, my (somewhat) short term plans involve fans, tune, long tubes, ORY, 3.73's, vette servo, and possibly the TB stall.
Not sure if I'll even bother with a cam swap, but I sure miss that lope!!!

I have a tr220, TB stall and 3.73's in my truck. I have a 5.3 and I kinda wish I went with something smaller cam wise. Don't get me wrong' if you love the high rpm power it's a good cam but if you want low end your going to be dissapointed. Don't know if thats exactly what you were talking about. as far as the TB stall DO IT!! noticable differance and not bad at all driving around town. once you get used to it its like having a stock converter.

You know it won't be ideal, but I don't think that it will be a total dog...eventually I'd go with a verter in the 3200+ neighborhood though. I'm guessing that the tb converter would probably stall around 2400-2500 behind your 4.8 with that cam.

yea, I know it won't be ideal. The eventual plan for this truck will be to pick up where I left off with the white one. When it burnt up, the damage wasn't too bad, but they totaled it. The plan was to build a LS2 402 with something in the neighborhood of a 23x or 24x cam with a 3400 stall.
Eventually I hope to have this truck in the 11s on motor. It's quite a goal, but I'm just hoping right now.
Unfortunatly for some reason I've been making damn adult like decisions, so I'm not gonna put too much into this one. Main reason I'm getting it is to keep the CC off the road some, and out of these damn work parking lots!!
You know me though, I just can't seem to drive a stock truck. It needs to be able to **** off the stang owners lol.
I'm sure I'll tune it, probably a few bolt ons. If it has the 3.42's I may just leave them as it's going to spend the majority of time on the highway, and to me it isn't worth the investment to go from 3.42 to 3.73.
I'm pretty sure the TB converter will wake the sluggish 4.8 up a good bit, but damn I miss the sound of that cam in the 6.0!!

Meant to say not putting too mch into it right now. I know when I start building the engine it's not gonna be cheap. Got some other things I need to take care of before I start into her too much.
Figure the tune, stall, and some LTs is conservative enough to start with!

I have the TR220 and TB stall setup for my 5.3, And it isnt bad. I think its a nice litttle combo, And I still have good low end. TB stall is definately worth it for the price and its a nice increase over stock.. But of course a 3200 or 3400 would be ideal and get the most out of the cam..
