Tow/haul issue?
#1
A buddy of mine has a 01 Silverado 5.3. He called me and said everytime he starts the truck the Tow/haul comes on. He can turn it off and it does not come back on until he starts it again. Anyone seen this before or know what the cause is?

First I heard of that. However every once in a while when I tun on my overhead MAP lights, I get the cargo light indicator come on for a brief moment. Gremlins.
Is you buddy sure it is actually in T/H mode and just not the indicator light.
How about when he puts it into park before shutting her down...is he sure his hand doesn't accidentally engage the button on the gear shifter? I could see that happening.
Otherwise, maybe a faulty switch.

IIRC, the Tow/Haul cylcles off with the switch, so even if he accidentally turns it on, it should turn off when the key is turned off...so, good theory, but I don't think it can happen. Could be a shorted switch, maybe a pinched wire in the steering column, or a BCM logic issue...
