Default Tough idler arm

Im trying to get the pitman arm off i think i need to loosen the idler up and then work on ptman arm i got the nut off the pitman although its nearly impossible to get the puller screw to clear the bracket support so i cut it away to make room.

Im not taking the pitman loose from the stering shaft

i dont have a dremel to cut a slot in the pitman

That is no fun, I tried to change mine and could never get the tool on straight enough to do it. I finally gave up and just had it replaced when I decided to have the gear box rebuilt when it started leaking.

When I separated from the center link the engine was out and it was a bitch. I wacked it with a ball joint fork and a sledge for at least a 1/2 hour which obviously destroys the ball joint boot.

If you have to do it I hate to say it, you might want to drop the gear box or at least loosen it to get the puller better seated on it, its only 3 bolts that are easy to get to. Just don't disconnect the steering intermediate shaft without pinning the steering wheel.

I know its not much help but I was there, trying to get it off when i wanted to change it and finally just gave up.

Stop cutting your frame. If u don't have the snap-on specific puller, wrap your seat belt around the lower steering wheel and buckle it, unbolt the steering shaft from the box and unbolt the steering box. Now you should have the mobility to remove everything.

Yep. Unbolt the steering box. Not all the bolts but two of the 3 I think... Then you can move the box a bit. Took me a While but that's how I did it.
