ok, here is the thing, i have the GoodYear Eagle GT II's P285 60 R16, i love these tires. i went to get them rotated yesterday, and the guy told me that my rims arnt wide enough, he told me i needed like a 9in rim. No one ever told me that from the start, and they sure didnt have a problem when they put them on.

What do yall think about this.

 

They are a little wide, probably bulge out on each side huh?

The widest I'd go with an 8" wheel is 275. A 9" wheel would be about perfect for a 285 tire. 10" rim for 315 tires.

hell i got 50000 miles off 295's on a 8 inch rim. You just have to regulate your air pressure to the temp changes

 

i understand what yall are saying.

i have 6000 miles on these tires, and dont have a single problem. no psi problems, nothing. i even drive back and forth from houston to Lubbock, which is a major altitude change, and have had no problems. i have done this 3 times now in since august.

i am not going to change the rims, dont have the money, just wandering what yall would say.

half the people here are running that size tire or bigger on factory wheel. im running the same size but in a bfg got about 15000 on them also.

 

Just keep an eye on the tire pressure. The problem is the rim is narrow enough that it makes the middle of the tire bulge out more than the outsides. You will see the middle of the tire wearing faster than the rest. The solution is to run a tad lower air pressure than the max stamped on the tire. I had the same issue on my old '98. Its no big deal.
