Has anyone had a universal joint go out and had a ting ting ting noise, it only happens on take off, not at idle, seems to go away a little at crusing, sounds ilke its comming from the front rather than the rear. help!!

 

When I lost a U-joint I got the noise when momentum changed, like going from drive to park, it wold make the racket when i hit reverse, or If I was cruising and took my foot off of it I would hear it agin.

 

hmm mine will not do it at coasting, only upon aceleration, sounds like a piece of metal taping on a tin can. Also get a bucking upon shifting from park to reverse or park to drive, bucking is acompanied by a banging. Ill have to go under it and check for play in the shaft. Seems like it coming from thre front maybe a slip yoke.

 

Just an update for you guys if you ever run into this problem, I fixed it yesterday, it was the starter bendix was broken and would flop forward and not retract and stay retract, so i replaced the bendix for 38.00 and she is as good as new. It was floping forward on ocasion banging into the flywheel and causing a tinging noise. Hope this will help someone in the future!!
