Thinking of using a 5.3L in my 73 Z28
#1
I want to use the LS1 but the funds aren't there for it right now. I really jsut want to get it running again. So I was thinking of just getting a LSX platform in there. What kind of times do you think the 5.3L with bolt ons is capable of with a 3,400lbs car? Are there any performance dealers out there? Links would be great. What can the 5.3L be stroked to? How are the heads will LS1's swap out. How about the LS6 style intake. If someone has a link to a FAQ that would answer my ?'s please call me stupid and point me in the right direction. Any other information would be great thanks in advance.

Try Street and Performance, they have done a LS1 conversion in a 69 camaro. As for performance parts check out the sponsor list to the right.

probably run pretty good! I would put a little cam in it as well. You could probly get it running 13s easy! Maybe with a stall you could get it in the low 13s/high 12s. It is way lighter than our trucks and when RCSB trucks have full bolt ons they are capable of 12s. (BlueCajun) Litreddevil has a couple 5.3s for sale for really good prices. GO FOR IT!

5.3's can be bored to the 5.7's and i think i've heard of people putting 4" stroke cranks in them to get like 382?. the ls1 heads will swap out but i would have them milled to keep the compression up. as far as the intake, the stock truck intake performs well.
