It all depends what you want to do with your truck. If performance mods are in the future the Chevrolet is the choice hands down. There are probably as many aftermarket parts and tuning options for chevys than all the other brands put together. If the truck is going to remain relatively stock or if its going to be used as a "work truck" then we are talking about a whole different comparison. I also think the Tahoe vs Expedition is a little different resale comparison than a F150 vs a Silverado. I dont think anyone can argue that Chevys also have the best gas mileage of the bunch. Dont get me wrong I have owned a couple of Ford trucks and they were good trucks just not as fast or fuel efficient.

Wow I'm gonna have to find that article cuz some of those numbers seem way too low. Especially the HEMI one that would be close to 50% drivetrain loss!!

is it just me or does it look like you can see the squares better on the ford test than the chevy. as if its going slower through the bumps.

I'm not real impressed w/ the running gear on the GM trucks either. I've compaired a Tahoe to expedition for my last company truck and must say the ford had GM beat in everything. Better, frame, bigger coolers, bigger brakes, 9.75" rear to 8.8 (IRS is welded to frame for extra ragidity), torquier motor (better off the line and about the same up top).

If I were going to buy today it would be a F-150, you can feel the heavier running gear (which is why it doesn't ride as nice). You'll also notice GMs trucks ride better because they use non load rated P metric tires, instead of the Load Range "C"s that are on 90% of the new f-150s. My other problem with GM is their electric fans, they just don't get the job done in florida when your pulling 5K+ lbs in 95+ degree weather. When you get into stop and go traffic the temp guage really heats up. The other difference is resale, I get more on my f-150s then I do on my silverado (% wise). It costs me about 5K a year to drive a expediton compaired to about 6.5K a year on a Tahoe.

They are ALL good trucks and more then the 1/2 tons of the 80s and 90s.

what year tahoe you looking at? my brakes are huge on mine. twin piston calipers all the way around. and my father-n-laws ford 2005 f150 ratles way more than my base model 2004 silverado and my loaded 2004 tahoe. i've never had any problems with my e-fans pulling through hills in tennessee and arkansas. snake eater pulled enough with his yukon xl to bend his utility bar in texas heat and never had a problem with hot temps. the fans are factory set to come on at high temps like 220 or so if i remember right.

When they did these tests,it looks like they used A Z71, and if I am not mistaken the Z71 has much firmer suspension than the 2wd silverado.I have A 03LTEC and mine has the heavy duty suspension and when I drive over similiar terrain it does the same as the silverado in the video. When I drive other silverados with the softer suspension they don't do that (bucking bronco) ****. I love how Ford does their comparison tests.

In the same Truckin article I was impressed with the Nissan Titan they rate the new one at 317 hp and it put down 290, its almost like they underrate the hp.

Toyota and the majority of car/truck magazines are the best of the best in that category. 5.3 Silverados vs the most expensive & loaded model Tundra's. I've never seen a comparison of a Tundra vs Vortec max NHT Sierra/Silverado or Sierra Denali vs a 5.7 Tundra. Like a 4 speed 300 hp 5.3l silverado is going to come close to a 6 speed 380 hp 5.7l Tundra in a loaded and unloaded acceleration test....

Original poster: completely agreed with your opinion on the F150's, I drive my bosses 07 5.4 F150 almost everyday. I'm glad I'm not a Ford man.
