My '01 Silverado doesn't have the fancy rear-view mirror with the compass and outside temp. Is it possible to add one relatively easily? There is a rectangular connector above the overhead console that doesn't go to anything. I figure it's for the mirror or the rear HVAC controls on an SUV model.

As far as I know mine doesn't have the outside air temp sensor, but will it have the connector and wiring for it? Or do I need the run the wires from the sensor to the mirror?

Do I need a 99-02 mirror or will an 03-06 work?

The air sensor is normally located next to your power steering cooler. The wiring harness (if available) will also be in this vicinity.

You need the 00-02 mirror and the 00-02 sensor for this to work properly. I couldn't tell you if that connector in the ceiling is correct or not.
