I asked a question about two weeks ago about the automatic door locks on my 99 silverado. Chevymec talked about a tech II, where do I get it, how much does it cost, what else can I do with it. Sorry for all the ?'s. Little things like these door locks really bug me.

I've seen some on ebay for about $2000+.

 

I just recently bought a 99 regular cab and my doors do teh same thing. It really really bugged me at first. but i have gotten used to it. But I talk to a salesman and he said that it has to be programed at the dealership. in 2000 you can do it yourself by the instructions from teh manual but in 99 the dealer has to do it. call your local dealer and see what they say.

 

You can buy the Tech II but you'll need access to a GM dealership that will update it for you otherwise, it's not worth it.

 

how about buying a 2000+ pcm or bcm for that fact??????

 

Hey 99 silverado. The Tech II is GM's scan tool . I forgot to add that you must have access to TIS 2000 which is a program we use to reprogram the PCM and other modules.
