- Unbolt the driver's side of bed (4 bolts)
- Loosen but do not remove the last of the bed bolts on the passenger side (4 bolts)
- Use a cinder block or paint can or something of similar size and place it between the bed and the frame, so that the bed is tilted.

Depending on what you use to prop up the bed, it should give you plenty of room to get to the fuel bucket assembly and the bed does not get scratched or dinged in any way since it was never really fully off or unbolted.
Julien, the cherry picker idea is an option, esp. if only I'm doin it or have only 1 other person.

Here I thought there were only 4 bolts holding bed - frame, not 8. Of course I looked real quick bout a week ago, but wasn't thorough as I had to get my oil changed before dark.

Long as those bolts aren't rusted to ea. other, that's my only worry, as Cali has the better weather to prevent that.

The paint can to tilt is was clever if only a little bit more access is needed.

Have to agree with you. I am on a few forums and this one really has a relaxed feel and everyone here is actually serious and wanting to help and receive help. There are tons of people here that have lost more knowledge about truck and motors than I will ever learn. Either way I will learn where I can and help where I can

If you don't have a lift, all you need is a buddy. My dad and I lifted a bed onto a 4wd, and we're both skinny weak little ******. The hard part is lifting it high over the tires, so make life easy on yourself and take your wheels off and put your truck down low on jackstands.

Corey, it's looks like u lifted from the top part of bed w/. the tiedowns. So some on here have lifted from the factory tiedown points, some have lifted higher & others have made a wooden box to support bedsides. And then even more methods.

And yet, still no on has told me what the bed weighs.

I'm not the biggest guy at 175-190#, depending on the sun's orientation & how the planets align, I'm no bull but I can lift long as my shoulder cooperates if needbe.

Tim, shed weight by goin to a reg cab.

Yep the tie downs were on the top because the hoist needed to be on the side instead of the back
