Default tahoe barn door tail lights

I have a 04 tahoe with barn doors and wanting to change the tail lights i'm wanting to put some black or smoke tail lights on.
I orginally order smoke tail light covers but they do not fit properely due to door in back opening rubing up against cover.
I'm seeing that the more tail lights i look at these fitment guides they offer show that lights will not fit barn door model tahoes.
I only found 1 set of black tail lights on ebay that will fit don't car to much for them.

What is it about the barn door models the lights won't work?
What kind of mod can i do to make tail lights fit barn door model?
Does any body have a link of a site that offers more of a selction for barn door model tail lights.
Or has any body had any experence with plastic dip or vent shade paint. Just paint the existing tail lights?

Thanks for any tips or advise

I am almost positive the lights are the same. I have a liftgate Tahoe and my mom has a barn-door Tahoe and they look identical. However, as the door opens very close to the taillight, any aftermarket addition or protrusion could contact the door. Get nightshades and tint them yourself, do a search on here, lots of info.
