subaru wrx goes down..

Default subaru wrx goes down..

on the way back from the track friday night after stopping for some grub with file(tiburon), i headed back to my house, took the populated route where lots of cars hang out and cruise, well low and behold, i see my coworkers 02 wrx in front of me, he turns on two a 4 lane road and i follow and get on the side of him right away, we get a light, i roll down the window and ask to go from a 15 punch, we get to speed and as soon as i was about to start honking, he takes off, i had it in first, (the wrx is stickshift) so i didnt have no downshift lag like him, i stayed behind him for a bit, but when he hit second, it was over, we went to 60 and i had more than 1 car lenght.. what was funny was i heard something that sounded like shamu comming from the car as he shifted.. i guess i'll hear the excuse monday morning.

oh yea, only mods i know of on the car is a exhaust, and well that shamu sounding thing dont think thats normal...

track was pretty good also,

i almost matched my best of last year 14.4@93, i did a 14.5 @94, my mph was up 1, my friend also took his 04 hemi rcsb and hit a 15.34@88 stock with 1000 miles on it.. temps werent all that great either, it was about 72 and humid.. at least i have a baseline now to see what kind of numbers a cam/tune will do if i ever get them on..

Yeah WRX's aren't too swift stock...my was a turd stock too. Power comes on stock at like 3000rpm and falls out by 5500rpms...the 3 cats on the car do not help either. The one in the uppipe to the turbo creates about 500rpms worth of lag. The two in the tiny (2.25") downpipe restrict flow and create back pressure hence creating lag and losing power. Also that little TD-04 turbo can't push 17psi @ 7000rpms it usually tapers to about 13psi w/ engine managment as it is so tiny.

I have the few mods listed below in my sig and has around 50-60rwhp more than stock! I spent only $800 for them too. I still have the stock muffler on for some stealth.


Did he just have a fart-pipe?
