Default Street Manners?

I been reading in th FI and Transmission sections on here lately & I keep hearing this term "Street Manners". What exactly is that, are you guys saying its street legal or? Just trying to understand what yall meen when talking about your setups.

they are talking about how a setup drives on the street. good "street manners" would drive similar to stock or get decent gas mileage...etc

when you modify something from it's original config you are changing it modus operandus...it will behave differently. High HP cars and trucks setup for track can run like dogs on the street. One has to take into account how much time on the strip Vs. street and mod accordingly.

example, a 4800rpm converter might keep you in the band when wot but really feel aweful just tooling around.

^^He would know his stock converter is in my v8 sonoma and runs great.

Yeah my Truck will PROBABLY rarely see the track. More like just an around the town driver that I can LEAVE everybody at the LIGHT with . I'm thinking something much lower, maybe in the 3000-3300 range? Not to sure yet on the whole setup other than it WILL be FI, but I want it to be fun on the street messin around!

glad to hear it!


I have a 2800rpm stalled torque converter, it's a real nice unit but there are times just cruising around where I wish I had that stocker. It only takes a sharp right stab at the peddle to regain my composure but even with a 2800 it feels loos just tooling around.
