Stock Converter Question
My question is, if you're cruising at say 55, & truck is at operating temp, if you touch the brake while still on the gas, will the converter come out of lock-up?
I know on the previous generation trucks, they would come out of lock-up if you did this. I tried it the other day & it didn't change anything.
Just wondering what is normal so I can figure out if I have an excuse to buy a new converter.
thanks

You need an excuse? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> For awhile I was thinking about not doing a convertor swap but the more I've been thinking about it the more I want one. Probably a Yank 2600 stall.
BTW, where are you from in Michigan?

Re: Stock Converter Question
Don't waste your time on a 2600 get a 3k stall
A little more fun not that much of a noticeble difference
still not too bad for towing either
I love my yank 3k stall wish i had gone with the 3200 though

Re: Stock Converter Question
Red53, thanks for the reply. So based on that info, I'm assuming my truck is not locking up at all. Nothing happens when I apply brakes at speed. And I never notice it locking up while accelerating. This is probably why my gas mileage has dropped considerably.
What would cause the converter to not lock up? What can I do to fix this?
JSmith, I'm in the Grand Rapids area.
