Default Stereo planning (GM related)

So that I dont go and get screwed over by the stealership, will GM void ANYTHING in the warranty for adding a headunit or subs/amp in my truck?

I have never heard of a stereo causing warranty claims to be denied.....I had a fuse holder break and short out to ground, causing my fuel pump to fail, and they replaced the pump under warranty.

I guess on newer trucks it might be more of an issues since so much seems to be integrated into the head unit. What year are you?

They can only void warranty on something if you did/modifyed or added brakes it. For example adding an amp to factory speakers and they blow, well they wont warranty the spakers or if aftermarket wring shorts out and burns say the alternator it won't cover it. I wouldn't worry about it and go ahead and install whatever you are going to.

Magnuson-Moss act protects against this. They can only legally deny your claim if they can prove that what you did caused the failure. As long as you do your hookups correctly you shouldn't have any issue.

Granted it would be fun work at the dealership and prank someone getting random warranty repairs that way.

Random poor bastard-- "ummm so yeah I heard a loud bang and now my truck is spitting oil all over the pavement...thats under warranty right?"
Dealership monkey-- "actually no....you tinted the windows AND added a new radio. No warranty for you!!!<in soup **** voice>"
